£75m Upfront, £10m in Add-Ons
Manchester City have confirmed the sale of Savinho to Tottenham in a deal worth up to £85 million, with £75 million arriving upfront and the remaining £10 million tied up in add-ons. Of that bonus package, £5 million is considered easily achievable.
The 22-year-old Brazilian, who joined the Blues from City Football Group-owned ESTAC Troyes in 2024, has moved to north London seeking regular first-team football under Roberto De Zerbi. It is a move he had his heart set on last summer too, only for CEO Ferran Soriano to block the transfer then.
An Absence That Spoke Volumes
Those who watched City's Community Shield defeat to Arsenal a few weeks ago — a 3-0 loss in Cardiff — will have noticed Savinho was not on the trip. Nor did he feature in Sunday's comeback 2-1 win over Bournemouth in the opening Premier League fixture of the 2026/27 season. The writing was on the wall.
"I'd like to thank everyone at Manchester City. My teammates, the staff, the fans… all of them were brilliant with me. I am a better player and better person having spent time at City."
Savinho was effusive in his farewell, describing his time at the club as an honour and expressing gratitude for the support he received. He specifically referenced the FA Cup and Carabao Cup triumphs last season as moments he will treasure.
Sporting director Hugo Viana echoed those sentiments, noting that Savinho arrived in Manchester as a 20-year-old with limited senior experience and departs as a double cup winner with plenty of Premier League and Champions League appearances behind him.
Reinforcements on the Horizon
City's attacking ranks are thinning. Omar Marmoush is expected to follow Savinho to Tottenham on an initial season-long loan in the coming days, leaving the Blues needing arguably two attacking signings before the September 1 transfer deadline.
There is movement on that front. Personal terms have been agreed with Palmeiras' Allan Elias, viewed as a like-for-like replacement for the departed winger.
The immediate picture is complicated by Jeremy Doku's calf injury, sustained against Arsenal in Wales, which will sideline him for a few weeks. Antoine Semenyo started on the left wing against Bournemouth with Phil Foden on the right, and it was late goals from Marc Guehi and Josko Gvardiol that spared Enzo Maresca an awkward opening-day result.
Viana's parting words were gracious: everyone at City wishes Savinho the very best on his move to Spurs. The club have banked a significant fee for a player who wanted out — now the work begins on spending it wisely.
